Pub Lunch with my Babey

Yesterday, about 20 minutes after arriving at work, i received a call from Brooklyn's day care telling me that he had a rash that needed to be checked out by a doctor...*sigh*...so i began the hour and a half long trip home to collect him.

By the time i got there, the rash could barely be seen but i decided to take him home anyway. We couldn't get a doctors appointment until 5pm so i decided to take him out for a 'special lunch' [i didn't want him to think that i had picked him up because he was behaving poorly - it's one of the first days recently that he was a complete angel!!!!]

So this is us hanging out down the local pub for lunch. Brookie had a Hot Dog with chips and i had the Greek Lamb Salad ...Nom Nom Nom!

Crafty Weekend Fun + Some

Sorry i haven't blogged much over the weekends lately but the truth is, i've spent most of the time sewing! Here's some of the things i worked on over the past weekend:

I learnt this awesome method of piecing using a [tutorial] from Sew, Mama, Sew! Look at how nicely all those corners line up! I just had to try it out and seeing as i am always upset that i never have time to make anything for myself, i decided that a table runner would be just lovely!

Using the same method i also made this little mug rug (binding still needs to be finished off) for my Oma's birthday which is today - also bought her the mug and some diabetic chocolate...yummy!

Meet my new project [above]. My current handbag is way to small for all my crafty items it take on the train with me and it has a magnetic clasp so things can fall out quite easily. This bag has a zipper which is brilliant and it claims to be able to hold 'everything but the kitchen sink' which suits me to a tee :)

I went down my local spotlight today and lookie what i found hehe - i'm not usually a panel person but i just couldn't go past this one! My baby cousin, Isabelle, would love it for her birthday, or Christmas...depending on when i can finish it by. My plan is to hand quilt - the little owl print is for the backing.

I have also [finally!] started my Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt and here is flower one....89 to go! [well 88.5 if you count the half a one i've done today hehe] As i may have mentioned before, it's going to be done in many random solids and will be...well huge - i'm going off a pattern but i didn't actually read how big it is!

I also started my dad's birthday quilt - The Grandpa Quilt made from flannels. I haven't gotten very far, but plan to work on the stars tomorrow and start the needle turn applique at craft group tomorrow night.

I have had my 'Darcy's Dress Up Quilt' [above] ready for weeks and today i finally found some time to start quilting...and now that time will be spent UNPICKING!!! *Sigh* looks like i'll need to beg my mummy to let me borrow her machine...only 2 months till my new machine! Thank goodness!

Books that WiLL bee Mine :)

I am planning on purchasing the above books from [Can Do Books] on Friday!! Yay! They are all just so gorgeous, i couldn't choose. They are:

[Free-Style Handmade Bags & Skirts] by Woonjin Publishing
[Patchwork Style] by Suzuko Koseki
[Material Obsession Two] by Kathy Doughty & Sarah Fielke
[Little Girls, Big Style] by Mary Abreu
[Sewing Clothes Kids Love] by Nancy Langdon & Sabine Pollehn
[Sew!] by Cath Kidston

i am a total sucker for craft books - especially the ones like those above, with bright pictures and colourful fabrics!!! I just can't wait to be reading these in my armchair with a nice cuppa!

i Heart my Nanna + Her Gifts of Vintage Fabric :)

Recently my Nanna opted out of our weekly family craft group [she is getting older, increasingly frail and therefore doesn't quite feel 'up to it' which is fair enough i think hehe] but last night she sent along a few goodie bags with my Aunty to distribute. Inside were lots of ViNtaGe FaBRiCs that Nanna had found 'somewhere in that back room' haha and i have gladly given them a new home...aren't they GoRgeOUs?!?!

{ Urban} HOME Goods Swap Update

I have been working away at my items for the { Urban } HOME Goods Swap on Flickr and here's how it's progressed so far:

i can't tell you what it is because i definitely think that would give it away to my partner [just in case they are reading my blog...unlikely...but just in case!] I haven't started my second item yet and i am running out of time, so tonight i may just sew at the machine until i churn out those.

Here are a select few of the items i have my fingers crossed are coming my way [yes i know i cant only have two, but a girl can dream right?!]...

MMQG SASD...[see below for translation!]

Yesterday i attended my very first Sit and Sew Day [SASD] with the Melbourne Modern Quilt Guild [MMQG] and it can be summed up in one word...aWeSoMe!!!!

I originally decided that i would work on hand sewing projects and prepared a whole heap of hexies to be made up for my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt but as the day came closer [aka the night before!] i decided that i would bring my pollyanna [aka the Janome] out for a play in attempt to get some more work done on the 'Darcy's Dress Up' quilt.

So here is me below during 'show and tell' time. As you can see i have finally put the border on and by 5 o'clock she was basted and ready for quilting!

A big shout out to Sally [you can visit her blog here] for helping me with the basting...and getting that awful craft tape off the wooden floor! hehe.

Here are some of my favourites from the day:
